Chelmsford is a city at the heart of the ancient Anglo-Saxon kingdom of Essex, in the east of England. Within the central area of the city (Chelmsford urbs) there are approximately fifty-eight crossings ̶ by footway, by bridle way and cycle track, road, or rail ̶ over three rivers and several tributaries.
